Whilst we are extremely proud of our heritage and pleased that we’re still a family business, the Schofield Scrap Metal Recycling Centre today is very much a forward-looking company that has benefited from significant investment in recent years. We operate a policy of continuous improvement and constantly strive to make our site safer and a more pleasant experience for visitors or customers.
Most recently we have invested in newly re-surfaced roadways (which are swept regularly), improved signage, improved road markings and a new, protected pedestrian way.
We’re still based on a rural hilltop more or less equidistant from Leeds/Bradford and Oldham/Manchester but just about everything else has changed. In particular, recycling scrap metal as an activity has emerged not simply as a worthwhile option but an environmental necessity.

We buy just about any scrap metal, usually at a price that means more money in your pocket. Our 4.5 acre site meets all of the latest environmental requirements and enjoys a reputation for being one of the cleanest, tidiest recycling sites you’ll find anywhere. We use the latest IT systems and software to speed up customer turn around, weighing takes place on a new 50 tonne digital weighbridge and our payment terms are exceptional (same day instant online or to suit customer requirements). Please note that we do not make cash payments - these have been illegal since 2013.
